This is great news - I haven't read Air yet, but what I have read by Ryman I loved. One more reason to definitely check this one out as soon as the paperback edition arrives!

Geoff Ryman's SF novel Air won this year's Arthur C. Clarke Award, the author's second such award, in ceremonies April 26 in London. It's only the latest honor for Air, which this year has also taken home the British Science Fiction Association, James Tiptree Jr. Memorial and Sunburst awards.
Ryman's last Clarke Award, honoring the best British science fiction novel from the previous year, came in 1990 for The Child Garden. Ryman becomes only the third person†”after Pat Cadigan and last year's winner, China Miéville†”to have won the award twice.
