Okay, dann schauen wir mal, wie viel von den nominierten Werken ich kenne - gut sieht es wohl nur bei den Romanen aus, ich habe den Kaiju-Roman von Scalzi mit noch größerem Vergnügen gelesen als The Spare Man von Kowal und da der Scalzi offenbar übersetzt wird, kann ich ihn nur mit warmem, erfreutem Herzen weiterempfehlen.

 

Kingfisher lese ich ganz gern, den Roman kenne ich aber (noch) nicht.

 

Dann wird's dünner. Ich habe keine der Novellen gelesen. Obwohl ... doch, Even Though I knew the End kommt mir jetzt bekannt vor. Vermutlich habe ich die Rezension gelesen. Ich glaube, ich habe auch in die Leseprobe geschaut, aber sie hat's nicht geschafft. In den Kategorien der kürzeren Erzählungen und Kurzgeschichten habe ich einige Rezensionen (in der Locus) gelesen, aber keine der betreffenden Storys. 

 

Ganz eindeutig habe ich 2022 zu wenig anglo-amerikanische und auch allgemein internationale SF gelesen! Das muss aber besser werden. Ich habe gerade aber einen eindeutig zu hohen Lesestapel und hole daher aus 2022 nichts nach, nehme mir aber vor, 2023 mehr auf Englisch zu lesen.

Der Kingfisher liegt auf meinem Sub

Ich habe dann mal mit dem Kingfisher What moves the dead angefangen. Nach zwei Kapiteln kann ich gut verstehen, warum das gewonnen hat. Sehr atmosphärisch und die Figuren gewinnen total schnell ein Gesicht. Allerdings erinnert mich das alles sehr an Der Untergang des Hauses Usher ... ich muss mal die Vornamen der Geschwister ergoogeln. Ähm ja, das ist sehr daran angelehnt, allerdings viel moderner und als der Ich-Erzähler (hier nicht namenlos) sich mit "Alex" vorstellt (passt irgendwie nicht in die Zeit), wurde mir auch sonst einiges klar. Also, ja, inspired by Poe, ich wäre mir aber nicht unbedingt sicher, ob es nicht zu mehr Abweichungen kommen wird. 

Der Untergang des Hauses Usher habe ich 2020 oder so gelesen und es ist noch ausreichend frisch im Kopf.
